WATERTOWN – Top-rated Aberdeen Central notched its second straight shutout with a 7-0 Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ soccer win over Watertown Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles scored early and often in the win, blasting home the game-winner in the third minute, then tacking on two more goals in the first half alone.

Deshani Peters ended with three goals and an assist for the Golden Eagles, while Courtney Nipp scored a goal in each half.

“The girls did a good job,” said Central coach Merle Aske. “They came out strong and were steady throughout. We didn’t give up a lot of looks.”

Central had gone a week and a half since its last game, and Aske said the team used its practice time wisely.

“That week off last week really helped,” he said. “We talked about a lot of things and worked on some things. … I think the girls really understood. We looked really good today.”

Central, which improved to 8-1-1, has two games remaining in the regular season including its final home contest of the year on Saturday. The Golden Eagles will host Yankton in a noon kick-off.
