GROTON – Sioux Valley won the team title, while Brevin Fliehs of Groton captured the medalist position during the Groton Invitational golf tournament at Olive Grove Golf Course on Thursday.

The Cossacks finished with a team score of 321, 11 strokes better than Aberdeen Roncalli, which was two strokes in front of Groton.

Fliehs shot a 74, two shots better than runner-up Jonathan DeBoer of Milbank Area.

Roncalli used a balanced attack on the way to its 332 team total.

Andrew Gerlach led a delegation of Cavaliers who finished eighth through 12th. Gerlach shot an 82, followed in placement order of Finn Anderson with an 82, Harper Schnabel with an 84, Lucas Daggett with an 84 and Sawyer Henrich with an 84.

“It was another good tournament for the boys,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “We’re hoping to keep building on some good play. I’m happy to see Andrew Gerlach finding his game.”

Roncalli competes in the Redfield Invitational on Tuesday.
