MILLER – Aberdeen Christian made the most of its last tune-up opportunity ahead of next week’s conference meet, taking part in the Miller Invitational Monday afternoon in Miller.
The Knights put all three girls’ runners in the top 20.
Grace Steger and Kathryn Steger led the way for the Christian girls, finishing 13th and 14, respectively. The two sisters were less than a second apart at the finish line, while Rachel Beaner was close behind in 17th place.
“It was a really, really good day,” said Christian coach Livia Inches. “They all finished within six seconds of each other, which is impressive, because in order to have a strong team you need three strong runners and you need to run as a group.”
On the boys’ side, Lincoln Kaiser followed up last week’s personal-best effort with a 61st place finish.
“Lincoln is the kind of kid that sets goals for himself and when he reaches them, it’s very exciting,” Inches said.
Northwestern’s Lincoln Woodring won the boys’ race while Heidi Olson of Mobridge-Pollock won the girls’ race. Team titles went to Philip on the boys’ side and Potter County in the girls’ division.

The Knights head to the Lake Region Conference Championships in Ipswich next week.
“I’m proud of the team as a whole,” Inches said. “I’m excited to see what we can do at conference next week. We don’t have any more opportunities for mediocrity. We’ve got to attack it every time.”
