Brust earns top 25 spot, Golden Eagles 12th at State AA tourney

MITCHELL – Peyton Brust finished in a tie for 23rd while Aberdeen Central took 12th as a team at the Class AA State Golf Tournament on Tuesday.

Brust shot an 81 on the second day of the event for a 36-hole total of 157. The Golden Eagles ended up with a team total of 667.

Harrisburg won the team championship by eight strokes over Pierre. Both teams shot 301 totals in the second round.

Harrisburg’s Riley Christensen won the individual state title by five strokes over Jake Olson of Watertown, who fired a 68 on Tuesday. Christensen finished with a two-round total of 140.

Other Central golfers had Rylan Dykema and Cole Brust in a tie for 54th with 168s. Quincy Madsen shot a 174 and Carter Blanchard finished with a 36-hole total of 182.
