WILMOT – Aberdeen Christian outlasted Wilmot for a five-set volleyball victory Thursday night.

The Knights won the non-conference marathon 26-24, 22-25, 26-24, 22-25, 15-13.

“I couldn’t be more proud how the girls played tonight,” said Christian coach Sara Powell. “It was a huge defensive game for us. Every single one of the girls contributed and worked hard for every point.”

The match proved to be a battle the entire way as Christian won the first and third sets in extra points.

Wilmot erased both of those deficits with narrow wins in the second and fourth sets.

“Each set was a fight,” Powell said. “It was very even competition for us.”

Fittingly, the final set came down to the last few points and the Knights were finally able to secure the win when Wilmot made an error on match point.

The Knights racked up season-high totals in every category on the way to the victory.

Christian finished with 53 kills, 17 aces, 44 set assists and 108 digs.

Chloe Bosma had 15 kills, 7 aces and 21 digs to lead the attack. Sophia Fogarty added 13 kills, Jolie Fogarty contributed 38 set assists and Alexis Isakson finished with 41 digs.

“It was definitely fun to see the girls having fun and working together,” Powell said.

Kayla Hamman topped Wilmot with nine kills and four aces. Ashlyn Ebben and Stacia Redday also had four aces for the Wolves.

The Knights are right back in action tonight when they host James Valley Christian at the Aberdeen Christian School Gym.
