Herreid-Selby Area sweeps Knights

HERREID – Herreid-Selby Area got off to a quick start and improved to 16-6 on the season with a sweep over Aberdeen Christian Monday night.

The Wolverines scored a 25-10, 25-14, 25-7 non-conference volleyball sweep.

“We just struggled all around,” said Christian coach Sara Powell. “The second set we came out strong, but fell behind on errors.”

Christian was held to just eight total kills on the night, led by Sophia Eichler and Jolie Fogarty with two apiece. Eichler also had an ace serve, while Fogarty finished with four set assists and eight digs.

Alexis Isakson led the Christian defense with 17 digs.

The Wolverines have now won four in a row and seven of their last nine matches.

“The have a great team,” Powell said, “a strong front row for sure.”

The Knights now face Leola-Frederick twice in the next three days. The first match will be this evening in Frederick before the teams meet again Thursday at the Aberdeen Christian School Gym.

Serving: Aberdeen Christian 24-32 2 aces (Chloe Bosma 6-6 1 ace, Sophia Eichler 4-6 1 ace).

Hitting: Aberdeen Christian 47-63 8 kills (Eichler 5-5 2 kills, Jolie Fogarty 3-4 2 kills).

Setting: Aberdeen Christian 78-81 4 assists (Fogarty 48-51 4 assists, Alexis Isakson 12-12).

Digs: Aberdeen Christian 50 (Isakson 17, Fogarty 8).

Records: Aberdeen Christian 3-19; Herreid-Selby Area 16-6.
