WEBSTER – Webster took advantage of its short game to fuel a non-conference volleyball sweep over Aberdeen Christian Monday night.

The Bearcats used a variety of short serves and soft kills en route to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-16 victory.

“They killed us on short serves and tips,” said Knights coach Sara Powell.

Webster jumped in front during each set and forced Christian to play from behind.

Gracie Cadwell had 11 kills to power the victory. Jersey Johnson contributed four aces.

The Knights made a strong run in the final set, cutting into a large deficit thanks in part to the serving of Jolie Fogarty.

“She gave them a little taste of their own medicine and served some short serves,” Powell said.

However, Christian was unable to get over the hump at the end.

“We stuck together as a team and kept pushing,” Powell said.

Sophia Eichler topped the Knights with four kills. Alexis Isakson had an ace and a match-best 24 digs.

Christian concludes its regular season with a road match against Britton-Hecla on Tuesday.
