RAPID CITY – Aberdeen Roncalli found itself in the middle of multiple close matches during the first day of the State A Tennis Tournament in Rapid City on Monday.

The Cavaliers had seven of their matches that included either tiebreakers or super-tiebreakers on the day.

River Haskell won a pair of matches at second flight singles and advanced to today’s fifth place match. Haskell lost one of those tight contests, falling in the quarterfinals in a super breaker.

Katherine Kretchman, who also lost in a super breaker at first flight singles, Keira Rivett who lost in back-to-back tiebreakers at fifth flight singles, and Josie Mitzel, who lost a tiebreaker at sixth flight singles, will all play for ninth place today.

The doubles tandem of Raley Haskell and Anna Mitzel will be playing to get into the fifth place match at second flight doubles. The duo won their first match in a super-tiebreaker.

The other two doubles squads – Kretchman and River Haskell at first flight, and Rivett and Josie Mitzel at third flight – will both play for ninth when action resumes today.
