Warner rolls past Viborg-Hurley for state tourney berth

WATERTOWN – Defending State B champion Warner racked up 44 kills on the way to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-15 victory over Viborg-Hurley in SoDak 16 volleyball action at the Watertown Civic Arena Tuesday night.

Kyleigh Schopp led a balanced attack for the Monarchs with 14 kills. Kyra Marcuson and Lauren Marcuson each contributed 10.

Kamryn Anderson had half of Warner’s eight aces. Ava Nilsson finished with 37 set assists and a team-leading dozen digs.

Warner improved to 34-2 with the victory. The Monarchs will face Freeman in the first match of the opening round of the state tournament next Thursday at the Premier Center in Sioux Falls.
