JAMESTOWN, N.D. – A young Aberdeen Central gymnastics squad reached its goal, but came up short against Jamestown in a season-opening dual on Thursday night.
Jamestown defeated the Golden Eagles by a score of 140.80 to 128.75.
“My goal was to hit 120, so I was pleased with that,” said Central coach Mickey Everson. “We are down many girls. I only have one returning all-around varsity gymnast, so this was new to many of them that I pulled up from JV.”
Central’s top finish on the evening came from Addison Everson who finished second on the beam.
Masyn Schutter, who was fourth in the vault, ended up taking fifth in all-around. Regan Lust finished fifth on the beam.
“Scoring works a little different in North Dakota,” Coach Everson said, “so we don’t exactly know where we are at yet, but this was a good meet to start them off and get the nerves out.”
The Golden Eagles are back in action next weekend when they host the Hub City Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Golden Eagles Arena.
