HURON – Aberdeen Central racked up six pins on the way to a 55-14 win over Huron in an Eastern South Dakota Conference wrestling dual Tuesday night.

Brody Aesoph, Elias Biegler, Samson Flakus, Bryce Beitelspacher, Will Allen, and Rayden Zens each won by fall for the Golden Eagles.

“It was a good night,” said Central coach Donnie Bowden. “The kids came out and fought, especially after kind of a weird week last week where we were off the mat for four days.”

Bowden said the Eagles were able to find bonus points throughout the dual.

“It was very good team effort. I thought we stepped up in places where we needed to, to keep the momentum in our favor when it started to sway the other way,” Bowden said. “I thought everyone did a good job of fighting really hard and putting forth their best effort to score points.”

The Central girls fell to Huron 36-18.

The Golden Eagles received wins from Avery Bendewald, Madyson Gillen and Katrina Gibson.

“You can rely on them. You know what you’re going to get from them,” Bowden said. “They’re going to go out and compete really hard, and they’re going to put some points on the board.”

Bowden said the rest of the team wrestled well, and were just a move or two away from reversing their fortunes.

“The other girls are just a situation away,” Bowden said.

Central will have its only home dual of the season when they host Mitchell at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29 at Golden Eagles Arena.
