Cougars rack up dozen goals against Huron

HURON - The Aberdeen Cougars scored four goals in every period Friday night on the way to a 12-1 boys' hockey victory over the Huron All-Stars. Aberdeen set the tone when Austin Erickson scored just 26 seconds in the game. Micah Kranzler and Jacob Scheel then scored goals about a minute apart to give the Cougars a 3-0 advantage just over four minutes after the opening puck drop. Scheel led Aberdeen's scoring assault with four goals and also had an assist. Lleyton Kleffman contributed three goals and an assist. Devon Fischbach added two goals and two assists. Jadon Jones also scored and added two assists for the Cougars, who finished with 46 shots on goal. Kranzler and Quincy Madsen also had a pair of assists for Aberdeen, which picked up its first victory on the young season. "It was a great team effort tonight," said Cougars coach Jeremey Backous.
