BRITTON – Sterling Mertens of Britton-Hecla won the all-around competition to help power the Braves to the team title at their own gymnastics invitational on Thursday.

Mertens finished second in the vault, bars, beam and floor exercise to edge Hope Bjerke of Deuel in the all-round. Bjerke won the vault, bars and floor, while her teammate Hannah Cutshaw won the beam.
