SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Central could not slow down Sioux Falls Washington Friday night.

The Warriors made 34 of their 48 shots from the field (71 percent) on the way to a 78-39 non-conference boys’ basketball victory.

The host team bolted out to a 22-3 lead in the opening period and never looked back.

The contest marked the second straight game in which the Golden Eagles struggled during the opening period against an opponent.

“They were more aggressive from the start. I have to find a way to get us off to better starts,” said Central coach Brent Norberg. “We did not play very confident early and it just snowballed on us. We have to find a way to be more consistent.”

The Warriors dominated the rebounding department, but there weren’t many rebounds to collect on the Washington end of the floor because the hosts did not miss many shots.

AJ Akot scored 18 points to lead four players in double-figure scoring for SFW. Mandalla Mohamed contributed 12, Zharic Sheppard 11, and Gage Gasca 10. The Warriors also had three others players with at least seven points.

Carter Dingman scored 11 points and also three steals to lead the Golden Eagles. Parker Lemer contributed eight points, and Spencer Barr finished with seven.

Central plays host to Sioux Falls Lincoln at 3 this afternoon at Golden Eagles Arena.
