WATFORD CITY, N.D. – The Aberdeen Cougars ran rough shod over the rest of the Rough Rider Rumble field this past weekend.
The Cougars capped off a dominating run through the tourney with an 8-0 girls’ hockey win over the Hazen-Beulah NorthStars in the championship contest on Sunday.
Aberdeen received goals from seven different players in the victory, led by Sydney Hofer who scored twice, once at the start of each of the first and second periods.
Aiden Raap contributed a goal and two assists, while Morgan Jones and Alyssa Roehrich each had a goal and an assist.
Other goals came from Ema Rehder, Kailyn Poppen, and Madalynn Witte.
The Cougars outshot their opponent 49-6 in the victory.
“We played solid defense,” said Cougars coach Rob Weinmeister, “and I liked the fact that everyone was contributing in all aspects of the game.”
The Cougars, who improved to 11-3 on the season, outscored their four opponents in the tourney by a margin of 30-2 and had three shutouts.

“I think it was a solid weekend that we were able to work on a few things that will hopefully help us moving forward,” Weinmeister said.
