SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The Aberdeen Cougars kept the Sioux Center Storm off the board for the second straight day Sunday, grabbing a 4-0 girls’ hockey victory.

The win was a bit closer than Saturday’s 10-0 triumph over the Iowans, but dominating nonetheless.

“Defensively, we played very well,” said Cougars coach Rob Weinmeister. “Offensively, we were a second behind on some passes and shots, giving them time to react.”

Still, Aberdeen controlled play on the ice, outshooting the Storm 43-3.

Allison Woehl had a pair of goals for the Cougars, scoring in both the first and second periods.

Aiden Raap and Rylee Hepper capped the scoring with third-period goals.

Again, it was Aberdeen’s defense on the weekend that helped to produce the sweep.

“Defense definitely keeps you in all games,” Weinmeister said. “We’ll take the two shutouts and four points for the weekend.”

The Cougars, 13-3 on the season, are back in action Friday when they host Huron at 6 p.m. at the Odde Ice Center.
