FAULKTON – Faulkton used a balanced scoring attack to help fuel a girls’ basketball victory over Aberdeen Christian Tuesday night.

The Trojans received at least six points from five different players on the way to a 54-22 Lake Region Conference win.

Christian owned a 7-6 lead late in the opening quarter before Faulkton went on an 11-0 run to grab the momentum. Five different players scored for Faulkton in the surge.

The Trojans steadily pulled away in the second half, again using a balanced effort.

Addison Melius finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and five steals, while Paislee Martinmaas added 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Gabby Kast contributed eight points, Kelli Stoecker followed with seven, and Jaymi Senn added six.

Chloe Bosma topped the Knights with 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Sophia Fogarty added 10 points. Jolie Fogarty had a team-leading eight rebounds.

Christian, which has dealt with a variety of injuries and sicknesses so far this season, continued to play shorthanded, minus two starters on the evening.

“We had another strong start to the game, but we had a short bench with injury and illness,” said Knights Cristian Martinez. “It was very fun to see one seventh-grader and two eighth-graders playing in the same period.”

The Knights have a non-conference game at Waubay-Summit on Thursday.
