A couple of area basketball squads moved up in the latest media polls this week.

The Hamlin girls climbed to the top of the Class A ratings following a win over previously top-rated St. Thomas More last week. Meanwhile, the Aberdeen Christian boys bumped up to second in the Class B ratings after De Smet – rated second last week – had its 24-game winning streak snapped this past weekend in a loss to Sioux Valley, currently second in Class A. Christian received two first-place votes in the poll.

Also of note, the Warner girls are now receiving votes for the first time this season in the Class B poll. Wolsey-Wessington continues to be rated second behind Viborg-Hurley.

Florence-Henry continues to receive votes in the Class A girls’ poll.
