SUMMIT – Waubay-Summit held Aberdeen Christian scoreless for more than 13 minutes to start the game and the Knights never recovered Thursday night.

The Mustangs scored the game’s first 19 points on the way to a 46-14 non-conference girls’ basketball victory.

“Today’s game wasn’t good offensively,” said Knights coach Cristian Martinez. “We couldn’t make a basket and the struggles with the turnovers continued.”

Eva Benike had a pair of three-point field goals in the opening quarter to stake the Mustangs to an 8-0 lead. She added another three-pointer in the middle of the second period as Waubay-Summit’s lead reached 17-0.

Benike finished with four treys on the night and scored a game-high 14 points.

“She was really good and kind of fun to watch,” Martinez said.

Meanwhile, the Knights could not find the range until Chloe Bosma eventually put Christian on the board with 2:33 left in the half.

While the Knights scored seven quick points to cut into the deficit, the offense quickly evaporated again as Waubay-Summit steadily pulled away.

Madison Zirbel added nine points for the Mustangs, who improved to 6-4 on the season. Brianna Lindholm contributed seven points.

Bosma finished with six points to lead Christian.

The Knights are off until Monday when they travel to Warner for a Lake Region Conference contest.
