Area represented by dozen wrestlers in Class B semis at state tourney

RAPID CITY - A total of 27 area wrestlers still remain in action after Day 1 of the Class B State Wrestling Tournament, which got underway Thursday at the Monument in Rapid City. Of that total, a dozen have advanced to the championship semifinals with the others remaining to compete in the consolation wrestlebacks when action resumes today. The group is led by Redfield, which has three wrestlers headed to the semifinals and four total still in placing contention, and Miller-Highmore-Harrold, which has two in the semis and three in the wrestlebacks. Brady Risetter (106 pounds), Mason Whitley (152) and Grady Fey (285) each won their first two matches of the tournament for Redfield, while Talon Ping (113) and Kellan Hurd (126) both advanced to the semifinals for Miller-Highmore-Harrold. MHH is in seventh place in team points with 41, with Redfield in eighth with 36.5. Canton tops the field with 87.5. Elsewhere, Warner-Northwestern has three of its four qualifiers still alive,
