Johnston finished with a game-high 30 points. Damon Odpahl, who made six threes, added 25 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and six steals. Jackson Wohlleber contributed 11 points.
Northwestern was led by Nathan Melius with 13 points. Jude Ortmeier and Chase Neiber each followed with 11.
