MITCHELL – Taryn Hettich and Taryn Hermansen combined for 15 fourth-quarter points to carry the Aberdeen Central girls to a 55-48 Eastern South Dakota Conference victory over Mitchell Tuesday night.

Hettich, a senior, was 5-for-6 from the free-throw line in that final stanza, while Hermansen, a freshman, had a pair of field goals and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the line to help seal the victory.

Lauryn Burckhard and Sydney Evans added field goals, as the Golden Eagles collected their fifth win of the season.

“We had so many contributions from so many girls,” said Central coach Mikayla Arechigo. “They contributed a lot of impactful moments that don’t always show up in the state sheet. The depth that we have been able to develop really enabled the team to finish strong.”

Hermansen’s fourth quarter was particularly welcomed after the freshman center went quiet through the middle stanzas after a solid opening quarter. She finished with 15 points to lead the Golden Eagles.

Hettich had 13 points, while Burckhard added 10 and Grace Kuch notched eight.

Central will host Huron around 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Aberdeen Civic Arena.
