A look back at some of the sports happenings during the week of Feb. 5-11:

Last year on Feb. 5, 2022: Langford graduate and Platte-Geddes boys’ basketball coach Frank Cutler picked up his 500th career win in Miller. The Claremont native has been coaching at his school for 33 years and has taken the Black Panthers to 13 state tournaments. He is one of nine boys’ basketball coaches in state history to hit the 500-win mark: Larry Luitjens (all-time leader with 748), Gary Munsen, Burnell Glanzer, Gayle Hoover, Paul Raasch, Mike Tuschen, Jim Schlekeway and Doug Groth.

10 years ago on Feb. 5, 2013: Minnesota sophomore Logan Storley (18-1) of Webster claimed the top spot at 174 pounds in the Amateur Wrestling News NCAA Division I rankings. Nebraska sophomore Robert Kokesh (26-1) of Wagner was ranked second.

20 years ago on Feb. 10, 2003: Bowler David Piker, 20, of Ellsworth Air Force Base rolled a 300 at Robbinsdale Lanes in Rapid City, one of six perfect games he would accomplish in 2003 to give him 12 for his career.

30 years ago on Feb. 6, 1993: Eric Kline scored 42 points to lead NSU (23-1) past Bemidji 103-71. Kevin Burckhard added 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Wolves.

40 years ago on Feb. 5, 1983: The Redfield wrestlers set a District 2B record by scoring 205.5 points in winning the district title. Winning district championships for the Pheasants were Scott Osborn (98 pounds); Doug Wright (105); Jacque Osborn (112); Colin Galvin (125); Colin Pfister (132); Mike Ford (138); Mike Niesen (145) and Bob Waldner (185).

50 years ago on Feb. 7, 1973: Tom Stotz made four free throws at the end of the game to give McLaughlin a 53-50 win over Hoven.
