Central wrestlers earn ESD all-conference honors

Aberdeen Central’s Mason Schrempp and Rayden Zens have been named to the Eastern South Dakota all-conference wrestling team.

Schremp, a sophomore, finished third at 145 pounds at the State A tournament, and Zens, a junior, was sixth at 126.

Other All-ESD wrestlers include Alex Mentzer, Brendon Oehme, Jordon Oehme, Trason Oehme, Trevon Oehme, Navarro Schunke and Lucas Slack of Brandon Valley, Tyson Brandt and Nolan Miles of Brookings, Jack Deter, Dylan O’Connor and Logan O’Connor of Harrisburg, Moses Gross of Huron, Jagger Tyler of Mitchell, Elijah Boutchee, Chance Carda, Deegan Houska, Trey Lewis, Alex Oedekoven, Joshua Rydberg and Tristan Spencer of Pierre, and Weston Everson, Micah Hach, Sloan Johannsen, Braden Le and Gage Lohr of Watertown.

The girls’ All-ESD squad was not voted on. It was determined at the conference tournament with the top three finishers at each weight being designated all-conference.

Aberdeen Central’s Madyson Gillen was first, Autum Gauer was second, and Ula Martin was third in that tournament. Katrina Gibson, who became the first female wrestler in Central history to win a state championship, did not compete in that event due to illness.
