Northern State men to face Emporia State Saturday

The Northern State men’s basketball team heads into the Central Region tournament as the second seed. The Wolves, 24-6 on the season, will face seventh-seeded Emporia State at 2:15 p.m. Saturday in the opening round of the eight-team event at Maryville, Mo.

Northern is one of three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams in the field. Minnesota State, Moorhead (25-6) is the fourth seed and meets fifth-seeded Southern Nazerene (25-4). Minnesota-Duluth (23-9) is the sixth seed and takes on third-seeded Central Oklahoma (26-5).

Defending national champion Northwest Missouri State (30-2) is the top seed in the region and will face Southern Arkansas (22-9).

Elsewhere, Black Hills State (25-5) is the sixth seed in the South Central Region. The Yellow Jackets will meet third-seeded Colorado School of Mines (26-5) in the opening round at Canyon, Tex.
