VOLGA – Sisseton used a strong second half to pull away from Parkston for a Class A girls’ SoDak 16 basketball win at Sioux Valley High School Thursday night. The Redmen now advance to the state tournament next week in Watertown where they will face Sioux Falls Christian at 7:45 p.m. Thursday in the opening round.

Sisseton led most of the game against the Trojans and was able to take a 23-20 lead into halftime. The Redmen began the second half by knocking down two 3-pointers to take a nine-point lead and were able to stretch their lead to 12 at the end of the third quarter. Sisseton held off a late Parkston rally to collect the 13-point win.

Sisseton was led by Krista Langager with 22 points and nine rebounds. Hannah Leverson tallied 19 points to go along with six assists and seven steals. Ruby Rice and Emmalee Nielsen each added eight points.

The Redmen (20-2) will be playing in their first state tournament since 2012.

Parkston’s Faith Oakley led with 15 points, while Mya Thuringer had 11. Abby Hohn added 10.

Parkston ends its season at 16-7.
