Stingrays have two state champs at indoor meet

The Aberdeen Swim Club had a pair of individual champions on the way to a fifth place finish as a team at the 13-and-Over State Indoor Swim Meet recently.

Joseph Grebner won the boys’ 15-16 50-meter and 100-meter freestyles, while Matt Peterson won the boys’ 13-14 200-meter backstroke.

There were seven athletes who had 100 percent preliminary PRs: Annie Bindenagel, Addyson Edwards, Gavin Hauck, Kiera Haugen, Claire Malsam, Joseph Miller and Matt Peterson.

Four individuals swam 100 percent final PRs including Addyson Edwards, Addisyn Hoven, Joseph Miller and Matt Peterson.

There was total of eight swimmers who recorded 100 percent relay PRS: Annie Bindenagel, Tylie Borge, Emma DeRouchey, Joe Grebner, Gavin Hauck, Libby Scepaniak, Weston Schaeffer, Ryan Schmidt, and Issac Torbert.

The Stingrays also won the Team-Spirit Award.

Aberdeen also finished third in the Combined State meets, one spot better than a year ago.
