FORT PIERRE – Wall cashed in at the charity stripe to help fuel a 74-64 win over Warner during Class B SoDak 16 girls’ basketball action Thursday night. The Eagles erupted for 28 fourth-quarter points – 13 coming on free throws – to secure the victory.
Wall, which trailed by as many as seven points in the third quarter, ended up outscoring the Monarchs by 25 points at the foul line in the contest.
Warner owned a 40-33 lead midway through the third, and was up 52-51 with five minutes left in the game before the Eagles scored nine unanswered points to take control.
Paige Kjerstad poured in 31 points to power Wall. She made 11 of 14 free throws in the contest. Nora Dinger followed with 17 points, and Alexis Stephan contributed 14, going 11 of 13 from the charity stipe.
Wall, 18-5, will face Sully Buttes at 1:45 p.m. Thursday in the opening round of the state tournament in Huron.
Ava Nilsson and Kendyl Anderson each scored 11 points to pace a balanced Warner attack. Kyra Marcuson added 10, Sophia Hoeft and Lauren Marcuson each contributed eight, and Kiah Koch and Kyleigh Schopp each finished with six.
The Monarchs finished their season with a 16-7 record.
