Braun earns medalist, Dohrer finishes runner-up at Huron tourney

HURON - Aberdeen Central placed three golfers in the top ten, including medalist Olivia Braun and runner-up Emma Dohrer, en route to a tie for first at the Huron Invitational Thursday at Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron. Braun carded a round of 74 to edge Dohrer by one stroke for those medalist honors. The pair, both freshmen, was joined in the top ten by Kyley Wirebaugh, who tied for eighth with an 87. “We had a couple freshmen that really stepped up big time today,” said Central coach Kim Zimmerman. “For Emma, that was a career-low score for her, if I’m not mistaken. … And Olivia has been very consistent for us from the start.” The top trio paced the Golden Eagles to a team score of 325, which tied Mitchell for the top spot in the 5-team tournament.
