Class A Track and Field Leaders

A pair of area athletes made major moves up the Class A leaderboard this week.

Miller’s Alley Mullaney went from fourth to a tie for first in the high jump after going 5-feet, 4-inches at the Pierre Legion Relays earlier this week. Simon Fried of Mobridge-Pollock also climbed from fourth to second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles after clocking a time of :41.04 at the same meet. Payton Brown of Milbank Area has moved into the second position in the 800-meter run after running a time of 2:00.45.

Meanwhile, Webster’s Drew Reetz made his first apperance in the pole vault, checking in with a tie for third place.

Aberdeen Roncalli’s Jayden Munroe continues to have the top long jump and is also second in the triple jump.

Gracelyn Leiseth of Hamlin continues to top the shot put and discus with teammate Kami Wadsworth second in both events. Wadsworth owns the top mark in the javelin.

Other area girls among the open leaders are: Milbank Area pole vaulters Jacy Dexter (third), Maggie Kruger and Katie Kruger (tied for eighth), and Webster vaulter Erin Case (tied for eighth), Ryli Thompson of Mobridge-Pollock (tied for seventh in the 400), and Halle Bauer of Great Plains Lutheran (eighth in the 800). Area relay teams among the leaders are: Miller (fifth in the 400, and eighth in the 800), Milbank Area (sixth in the 1,600, seventh in the 800, seventh in the medley and seventh in the 3,200), and Mobridge-Pollock (seventh in the 1,600).

Other area boys among the open leaders are: RJ Perry of Great Plains Lutheran (second in the shot put and seventh in the shot put), Gavin Witt of Webster, and Hamlin’s Luke Fraser and Zac VanMeetern (all tied for sixth in the 200), Fraser is also eighth in the 400, Ricky Berndt of Deuel (third in the 1,600), Jayden Johnson of Milbank Area (tied for fifth in the pole vault), Jaiden McCreary of Webster (tied for fifth in the pole vault), Cristhian Rodriguez of Hamlin (sixth in the javelin), Kaden St. Pierre of Hamlin (seventh in the discus), Pierce Baumberger of Miller (eighth in the 3,200), Gabe Sather of Deuel (eighth in the 110-meter high hurdles), Carter Hinsz of Mobridge-Pollock (eighth in the shot put), and Dominic Constant of Deuel (eight in the javelin). Area relay teams among the leaders are: Hamlin (second in the 400, second in the 1,600, third in the 800), Milbank Area (third in the medley, fourth in the 3,200, and sixth in the 1,600), Miller (fifth in the 1,600), and Deuel (tied for fifth in the medley).
