Class B Track and Field Leaders

A trio of Lake Region Conference athletes tops open events in the first Class B track and field leaders this spring.

Trevor Heinz of Ipswich is first in the long jump after setting a school record on Tuesday with a leap of 22-feet, 1-inch. Carter Geditz of Ipswich is the leading in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of :15.57, and Dustin Wurtz of Leola tops the field in the discus with a mark of 142-10.

Half of the runners in the boys’ 400-meter dash and 800-meter run are from the area, and three of the top eight girls’ 800-meter runners are area athletes.

In the boys’ 400, Roman DiMaria of Faulkton is fourth, Johnathan Bretsch of Frederick is fifth, Carter Luikens of Potter County is seventh, and Caleb Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington is eighth.

In the boys’ 800, Julius Pagels of Wolsey-Wessington is third, Luikens is fourth, Nicholas Schlachter of Potter County is fifth, and Nathan Melius of Northwestern is sixth. In the 1,600, Pagels is third, Northwestern’s Lincoln Woodring is fourth, and Schlachter is fifth.

In the girls’ 800, Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern is fifth, Emma Schlachter of Potter County is sixth, Avery Miles of Hitchcock-Tulare is seventh. In the 1,600, Boekelheide is second and Miles is fourth.

Other area boys’ leaders include Moshe Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington (second in the high jump), TJ Salmen of Hitchcock-Tulare (third in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles), Lucas Rowland of Ipswich (third in the shot put), Carson Walters of Wolsey-Wessington (tied for third in the pole vault), Daniel Stoll of Faulkton (fourth in the 200), Tyler Hettich of Ipswich (tied for fourth in the high jump), Brody Davis of Ipswich (fifth for fifth in the pole vault), Northwestern’s Melius (sixth in the 300 hurdles), Carter Geditz of Ipswich (seventh in the 300 hurdles), Landon Larson of Potter County (seventh in the long jump), and Erik Salmen of Hitchcock-Tulare (eighth in the discus). In relays, Frederick is second in the 3,200 and Northwestern is third and Ipswich is eighth, Wolsey-Wessington is third in the medley and Faulkton is seventh, Wolsey-Wessington is fourth in the 1,600 and Faulkton is fifth, and Ipswich is fifth in the 400 and Hitchcock-Tulare is sixth.

Other area girls’ leaders are Ella Haven of Northwestern (third in the triple jump), Madisyn Gellhaus of Ipswich (fourth in the 3,200), Tatum Luce of Wolsey-Wessington (tied for fourth in the high jump and tied for fourth in the pole vault), Kaitlyn Williams and Quincy Olivier of Ipswich (tied for fourth in the pole vault), Marley Guthmiller of Ipswich (tied for fourth in the pole vault and sixth in the 100 hurdles), Ashley Ptacek of Ipswich (sixth in the triple jump), Jaymi Senn of Faulkton eighth in the shot put), Emree White of Wolsey-Wessington (tied for seventh in the pole vault), Sofia Losure of Frederick and Gracie Lange of Ipswich (both tied for eighth in the high jump). In relays, Potter County is third in the 3,200, Northwestern is sixth in the 1,600 and Potter County is seventh, and Ipswich is seventh in the medley.
