Class B Track and Field Leaders

Area athletes took advantage of their first chance to compete outdoors earlier this week and climbed into the Class B statewide leaders.

Aberdeen Christian has three members among the leaders. Abe Kretchman is third in the long jump and also the triple jump, Andrew Brennan is sixth in the triple jump, while Shawnteah La Croix is tied for fifth in the 200, and eighth in the 100.

Warner is now also represented in the leaders as Hunter Cramer is third in the 110-meter high hurdles and fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and the Monarchs are tied for fourth in the 400-meter relay. Kennadee Wiedebush of Warner is eighth in the 3,200-meter run after setting a new school record in that event at a meet earlier this week.

Frederick’s Johnathan Bretsch also had a big week, moving into second in the 800-meter run. He is also sixth in the 400. On the girls’ side Quincy Olivier is now tied for second in the pole vault.

Carter Geditz of Ipswich continues to lead the 110 hurdles (he is also eighth in the 300 hurdles), and Leola’s Dustin Wurtz continues to lead the shot put.

Other area boys who are among the leaders in open events are: Moshe Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington (second in the high jump), Trevor Heinz of Ipswich (second in the long jump), Lincoln Woodring of Northwestern (third in the 1,600), TJ Salmen of Hitchcock-Tulare (third in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles), Carson Walter of Wolsey-Wessington (tied for third in the pole vault), Brenden Begeman of Herreid-Selby Area (fourth in the shot put), Daniel Stoll of Faulkton (fourth in the 200 and fourth in the 400), Julius Pagels of Wolsey-Wessington (fourth in the 800 and sixth in the 1,600), Tyler Hettich of Ipswich (tied for fourth in the high jump), Kalen Godel of Langford Area (fifth in the 1,600), Lucas Rowland of Ipswich (fifth in the shot put), Brody Davis of Ipswich (tied for sixth in the pole vault), Carter Luikens of Potter County (seventh in the 800 and eighth in the 400), Nicholas Schlachter of Potter County (seventh in the 1,600 and eighth in the 800), Nathan Melius of Northwestern (seventh in the 300 hurdles), and Grant Weisser of Ipswich (eighth in the javelin). Area relay teams among the leaders are: Wolsey-Wessington (second in the 1,600 and medley, and fifth in the 3,200), Frederick (second in the 3,200), Ipswich (third in the 800, tied for fourth in the 400, fourth in the 3,200 and medley, and fifth in the 1,600), Northwestern (third in the 3,200), Hitchcock-Tulare (seventh in the 400), and Faulkton (seventh in the 1,600).

Other area girls who are among leaders in open events are: Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern (second in the 1,600 and third in the 3,200), Ashley Haven of Northwestern (third in the triple jump), Avery Miles of Hitchcock-Tulare (fourth in the 1,600 and seventh in the 800), Tatum Luce of Wolsey-Wessington (tied for fourth in the high jump), Kaitlyn Williams and Marley Guthmiller of Ipswich, and Luce (all tied for fifth in the pole vault), Emma Schlachter of Potter County (sixth in the 800), Guthmiller (sixth in the 100 hurdles), Ashley Ptacek of Ipswich (sixth in the triple jump), Sofia Losure of Frederick (tied for eighth in the high jump), and Gracie Lange of Ipswich (tied for eighth in the high jump). Area relay teams among the leaders are: Potter County (third in the 3,200), Wolsey-Wessington (sixth in the 3,200), and Northwestern (eighth in the 1,600).
