MOBRIDGE – The Aberdeen Roncalli girls’ golf team posted a stellar performance at the Mobridge-Pollock Invitational on Thursday.

The Cavaliers were led by Claire Crawford, who took home a first-place finish with a score of 88. Ava Danielson placed fourth with a total of 103, followed by Grace Seyer in fifth place with a 103. Morgan Helms placed seventh with 108, while Reese Henrich finished 11th with a 115.

Cavaliers coach Jon Murdy said the team had to fight through weather conditions, but played well overall.

“The weather that the girls played through today was tough,” Murdy said. “(It) started cold with rain off and on through the round, and four of their last five holes was nice out, and most finished in the rain. Very proud of their mindset before, during, and after their round today.”

Murdy also noted that there were some other positives to take away from the day.

“It was great to see the girls improve their score today from this past Monday at Dakota Valley,” Murdy said. “The best part of the day was seeing their excitement on their faces they had all day (and) seeing all areas of their game improve.”

The Cavaliers are scheduled to be at the Dell Rapids Invite on Tuesday.

“(I’m) excited to see how much more they can improve as the season goes on,” Murdy said.

Aberdeen Roncalli results: 1, Claire Crawford, 88; 4, Ava Danielson, 103; 5, Grace Seyer, 103; 7, Morgan Helms, 108; 11, Reese Henrich, 115.
