MITCHELL – Aberdeen Central played its first ever sanctioned softball game on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles fell to Mitchell 11-0, but still saw plenty of positives from their inaugural contest, according to coach Cassidy Schaar, including the pitching performance from Kaylee Kiesow.

“Our pitching from Kiesow was outstanding and she truly pitched her heart out,” Schaar said.

However, the Eagles were not able to give their pitcher any run support in the season-opener, being held hitless in the five-inning contest.

“Our bats just weren’t on today,” Schaar said, “but given this was our first game ever, I could not be more proud of the energy our girls brought. We celebrated the little things and will get to work on the details.”

Central will have its home opener on Thursday when the Eagles host Brookings in the first sanctioned high school softball game in Aberdeen history. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Koehler Hall of Fame Field on the campus of Northern State.
