Golden Eagles drop tennis dual to Harrisburg

HARRISBURG - One day after winning close matches, the Aberdeen Central tennis team found itself on the opposite end of tight scores on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles fell to Harrisburg 9-0 in a dual that featured numerous tight contests, including a pair of super tiebreakers. "We won a lot of close ones (Monday against Huron), we couldn’t pull them out today," said Central coach Trent Kurtz. "We couldn’t carry over that momentum to win those breakers and close matches." Still, Kurtz was pleased with how his team did against one of the top teams in the state. "Honestly, you’re going to see an 0-9 score, but I thought we played pretty well," Kurtz said. "Harrisburg is really good." Kurtz believes that Harrisburg and Yankton are among the top teams in the Eastern South Dakota Conference this season. He said his players battled in every match.
