Arlington, Deuel top field at Dwight Kinney Invitational

ESTELLINE – The Arlington girls and Deuel boys won team championships at the Dwight Kinney Invitational track and field meet at Beckman Field on Tuesday.

The Arlington girls won nine events and accumulated 215 points. Deuel claimed seven wins on the way to grabbing the boys’ title with 177 points, edging Estelline-Hendricks by six points.

Deuel won a trio of events in the girls’ division, including Jaycee Hourigan in the 3,200-meter run, Kayden Russell in the discus, and Josie Anderson in the javelin.

Oliver Fieber and Ricky Berndt each won two events for the Deuel boys. Fieber captured the 100 and 200 dashes, while Berndt posted wins in the 800 and 3,200 runs. Gabe Sather won the pole vault, while the Cardinals also won 400-meter and 800-meter relays.

Hitchcock-Tulare’s T.J. Salmen won both the 110 and 300 hurdles, while the Patriots also took the 3,200-meter relay title.
