SISSETON – The Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers defended their Northeast Conference girls’ golf championship Monday in Sisseton.

The Cavaliers placed four golfers among the top 10 individual finishers led by medalist Claire Crawford, who shot a 101. Grace Seyer was runner-up just one stroke back with a 102. Ava Danielson was sixth with a 108, and Reese Henrich was 10th with a 122. Morgan Helms finished 11th with a 124.

“I’m happy for the girls to get the win,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “The course was playing tough today. The girls kept their head in it.”

Murdy was pleased that despite their success, the girls were not completely satisfied.

“They were talking about areas where they want to improve,” Murdy said, “which is great to hear them say that they want to improve. It’s been fun to watch them improve through the season.”

The Cavaliers are winding down the regular season. They travel to Groton on Monday and will host the Region 1A tournament on Thursday, May 25.

“Can’t wait for the next two weeks to build to regions at Lee Park,” Murdy said.
