PIERRE – Pierre pieced together 14 hits, including six for extra bases to fuel a 15-0 softball victory over Aberdeen Central on Tuesday afternoon.

The contest was the third in four days for the Golden Eagles with two of them on the road.

“The girls struggled getting momentum today,” said Central coach Cassidy Schaar. “It has been a long stretch of games for us. Our girls are worn down and just need some practices to clean things back up.”

Pierre set the tone early with seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. The hosts started out the game with a triple and a double in their first two at-bats.

Pierre ended up scoring six of their runs after two outs in the opening frame, thanks to four straight hits including a two-run double by Elly Broers.

Central had back-to-back singles by Alivia Roettele and Kaylee Dixon with one out in the second inning, but could not advance them.

Pierre scored four more runs in the bottom of the second, two plated on a single by Erin Leiferman, and then ended the game with four more runs in the third. Kara Weiss had a two-run double in that inning.

Weiss had three hits and knocked in three runs to lead the Pierre attack.

The Golden Eagles are back in action when they host Sioux Falls Lincoln at noon on Saturday at Koehler Hall of Fame Field.
