Class A Track and Field Leaders

A group of Northeast Conference athletes turned in solid performances at the Valley Queen Cheese Invitational on Tuesday to move up the board in this week’s Class A track and field leaders.

Hamlin’s Zac VanMeeteren climbed to third spot in the 200-meter dash, and Jayden Johnson of Milbank Area moved into a tie for third in the pole vault.

Other NEC athletes also moved up the ranks with their marks this past week.

A pair of Deuel athletes are now among the leaders following their finishes at the Dwight Kinney Invitational in Estelline. Oliver Fieber clocked the fourth fastest time in the 100-meter dash, and Josie Andersen is now among the leaders in the javelin taking the eighth position. Redfield’s Camryn Rohlfs moved into fifth in the long jump following her leap at the Potter County Invitational.

A group of Miller runners also improved their positions following the Miller Invitational earlier this week. Alex Schumacher is now fifth in the 1,600-meter run, while a pair of girls’ relays also ran season-best times. The Rustlers are seventh in the 400-meter relay, and eighth in the 1,600-meter relay.

Aberdeen Roncalli’s Jayden Munroe continues to top the long jump and is second in the triple jump. Hamlin’s Gracyn Leiseth continues to lead both the shot put and discus, while teammate Kami Wadsworth continues to have the top javelin throw.

Other area boys’ leaders are: Simon Fried of Mobridge-Pollock (second in the 300 hurdles), Ricky Berndt of Deuel (third in the 1,600), RJ Perry of Great Plains Lutheran (third in the discus and seventh in the shot put), Drew Reetz of Webster (tied for third in the pole vault), Payton Brown of Milbank Area (fifth in the 800 and eighth in the 1,600), Cristhian Rodriguez of Hamlin (sixth in the javelin), Gavin Witt of Webster, Luke Fraser of Hamlin, and Fieber (all tied for eighth in the 200), Carter Hinsz of Mobridge-Pollock (eighth in the shot put), and Jaiden McCreary of Webster (tied for eighth in the pole vault). Area relay squads include: Hamlin (second in the 400 and 1,600, and third in the 800), Milbank Area (third in the Medley and fourth in the 3,200), and Deuel (tied for sixth in the Medley).

Other area girls’ leaders are: Wadsworth (second in the shot put and discus), Alley Mullaney of Miller (tied for second in the high jump), Jacy Dexter of Milbank Area (tied for third in the pole vault), Camryn Rohlfs of Redfield (fifth in the long jump), and Erin Case of Webster and Maggie Kruger of Milbank (tied for eighth in the pole vault). Area relay squads include: Milbank Area (sixth in the 800 and 1,600).
