Class B Track and Field Leaders

The final Class B Track and Field Leaders look a bit different after area athletes improved their season-best marks at region meets this past week.

Region 1B produced nine marks for individuals and teams in this week’s leaders.

Lincoln Woodring of Northwestern moved up to third in the 1,600-meter run and fourth in the 800-meter run after clocking his best times of the spring, while Avery Miles of Hitchcock-Tulare soared into second place in the 800-meter run. Aberdeen Christian’s Shawnteah La Croix moved into fifth in the 100-meter dash, Morgan Sumption of Frederick had her best time to move into eighth in the 1,600, Ella Haven of Northwestern who is fifth in the triple jump had a season-best jump, and Britton-Hecla’s Abigail moved into the leaders for the first time and is in eighth in the triple jump.

A pair of boys’ relays also clocked best times in Region 1B: Frederick, which is fourth in the 1,600, and Warner, which is sixth in the 400.

In Region 2B Wolsey-Wessington’s Caleb Richmond ran into second place in the 800 and fourth in the 400 after his season-best efforts. The Wolsey-Wessington girls 3,200-meter relay (fourth) also ran their best time.

Region 6B also had athletes record season-best marks.

Ipswich had four vaulters hit top heights this spring, Brody Davis (third), Darrel Yost (fifth) and Rasmus Loken (sixth) in boys, and Marley Guthmiller (second) in the girls. Also, Tyler Hettich, who is fifth in the high jump, also had best jump. Herreid-Selby Area’s Bryson Goehring jumped into the long jump leaders for the first time this season and is currently fifth, while teammate Brenden Begeman is now eighth in the triple jump. The Potter County girls’ 3,200-meter relay team is third and ran its top time.

Begeman continues to lead the shot put, and Leola’s Dustin Wurtz continues to top the discus. Faulkton remains the leader in the boys’ 800-meter relay, and Wolsey-Wessington continues to set the pace in the boys’ medley.

Other area boys’ leaders include: Daniel Stoll of Faulkton (second in the 200, and tied for sixth in the 100), Hunter Cramer of Warner (second in the 110-hurdles, and third in the 300 hurdles), Trevor Heinz of Ipswich (second in the long jump), Abe Kretchman of Aberdeen Christian (second in the triple jump and third in the long jump), Nicholas Schlachter of Potter County (third in the 3,200, and fourth in the 1,600), Carter Geditz of Ipswich (fourth in the 110 hurdles), Moshe Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington (fourth in the high jump), Johnathon Bretsch of Frederick (fifth in the 400, eighth in the 800), TJ Salmen of Hitchcock-Tulare (fifth in the 110 hurdles and sixth in the 300 hurdles), Erik Salmen of Hitchcock-Tulare (fifth in the discus), Carter Luikens of Potter County (sixth in the 400 and 800), Jackson Isakson of Aberdeen Christian (sixth in the long jump), Lucas Rowland of Ipswich (seventh in the shot put), Carson Walters of Wolsey-Wessington (tied for seventh in the pole vault), Tanner Dryer of Herreid-Selby Area (seventh of triple jump), Turner Thorson of Ipswich (eighth in the 400), and Alex Pudwill of Warner (eighth in the javelin). Other area relay teams are: Faulkton (second in the 400, and third in the 1,600), Wolsey-Wessington (second in the 1,600, and sixth in the 3,200), Ipswich (third in the medley, fifth in the 400, and seventh in the 800), Warner (fourth in the 800), Frederick (fifth in the 3,200), and Potter County (eighth in the medley).

Other area girls’ leaders include: Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern (second in the 1,600, and 3,200, and fourth in the 800), Gracie Lange of Ipswich (tied for second in the high jump), Emma Schlachter of Potter County (fifth in the 800), Quincy Olivier of Ipswich (fifth in the pole vault), Ashley Ptacek of Ipswich (sixth in the triple jump), Jalyssa Hutson of Ipswich (tied for sixth in the pole vault), Mya Boomsma of Wolsey-Wessington (seventh in the long jump), Tatum Luce of Wolsey-Wessington (tied for seventh in the high jump), and Sterling Mertens of Britton-Hecla (eight in the long jump. Other area relays teams are: Potter County (third in the 1,600 and the medley), and Northwestern (fifth in the 3,200, seventh in the medley), and eighth in the 1,600).
