GROTON – Claire Crawford earned medalist honors and helped to power Aberdeen Roncalli to the team title at the Groton Invitational golf tournament on Monday.

Crawford shot an 85 to edge Groton’s Carly Guthmiller by three strokes. Grace Schwan of Aberdeen Central’s JV was third, Grace Seyer of Roncalli finished fourth, and Sisseton’s Elliot Hortness was fifth.

“I’m happy with the way the girls are playing. They keep wanting to get better every day,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “The girls are starting to play more and more with confidence, which is the best thing to have in golf.”

It was the final regular season action for the Class A teams in the tournament. Roncalli will be hosting the Region 1A meet on Thursday at Lee Park Golf Course.

“I’m looking forward to play regions at our home course,” Murdy said, “and can’t wait to see where we are at the end on Thursday.”

The State A Tournament is set for June 5-6 at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City.
