CLARK – Groton pounded out 18 hits and took advantage of five errors on the way to a 19-2 win over Clark-Willow Lake in American Legion baseball action on Sunday afternoon.
Bradin Althoff led the offensive surge with three hits, including a double and a home run, and drove in five. He also threw a complete game, scattering six hits and striking out four.
Ryan Groeblinghoff contributed four hits and plated four for Groton, which broke the game open with 11 runs in the third inning. He had two hits and knocked in two in the third frame alone.
Logan Ringgenberg had a two-run single before Tate Larson and Colby Dunker each drove in a run with a single. Althoff then cracked a three-run home run over the left field fence to push the margin to 11-0 in the third.
Groeblinghoff and Althoff each produced RBI doubles in the fourth inning, before the Tigers ended the contest in the sixth with five more runs. Althoff drove in another run with single, Tate Larson delivered a two-run double, and Ringgenberg plated a run with a single.
Cade Larson had three hits for Groton, while Ringgenberg, Tate Larson and Brevin Fliehs each finished with a pair. Ringgenberg knocked in four runs and Tate Larson drove in two.
