Hamlin, Faulkton grab team titles at Hamlin Invitational

HAYTI – Hamlin and Faulkton won team titles during the Hamlin Invitational track and field meet on Monday.

One the boys’ side, the hosts from Hamlin (95) edged Faulkton (94) by one point for the team title.

Individually, Faulkton captured wins in five events, including relay wins in the 400, 800, and 1,600-meter relays. Daniel Stoll (200) and Spencer Melius (300 hurdles) also picked up wins for the Trojans. Stoll was a member of all three of the winning relay squads.

Potter County and Florence-Henry each earned three wins. Potter County’s Sean Seuer (100), Carter Luikens (800), and Nicholas Schlachter (1,600) each won events for the Battlers. Mehki Keller won the long jump and triple jump for Florence-Henry, while Adam Moe added the third win for the Falcons in the high jump.

Other area boys’ winners included Ipswich’s Turner Thorson in the 400-meter dash, Hamlin’s Noah Smith (shot put) and Kaden St. Pierre (discus), and Langford Area in the Sprint Medley relay.

For Aberdeen Roncalli, Parker Grieben won the 110-meter hurdles, while the Cavaliers also won the 3,200-meter relay.

On the girls’ side, Faulkton Area won the team title with a score of 133, ahead of Potter County (110).

Individually, Potter County won four events, with Emma Schlachter (800), Paige Ahlemeier (3,200), and Dannika Kaup (300 hurdles) picking up wins. All three were also a part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team.

Clark-Willow Lake’s Hadley Gjerde won the 1,600-meter run, while Sara Thonvold won the 100-meter hurdles. The Cyclones also won the 400-meter relay.

Faulkton Area won a trio of events, which included the high jump (Addison Melius), triple jump (Kelli Stoecker) and the 3,200-meter relay.

Other area girls’ winners include Hamlin’s Gracelyn Leiseth winning the discus, while Florence-Henry won the Sprint Medley relay.
