Mobridge-Pollock boys win team title at Oakes meet

OAKES, N.D. – Mobridge-Pollock won the boys’ team points, while the Tigers were runner-up to Oakes in the girls’ division during the Oakes Last Chance track and field meet on Monday.

Simon Fried topped the Mobridge-Pollock boys, winning the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and the 800-meter run. The Tigers also won the 800-meter relay.

Frederick also won a pair of relays taking the 1,600 and 3,200.

Brenden Begeman of Herreid-Selby Area won the shot put, while Leola’s Dustin Wurtz claimed the discus. They are currently the top throwers in Class B in those respective events. Begeman’s toss of 53-feet, 3-inches is his best throw this season.

A pair of Mobridge-Pollock girls also had a big meet. Heidi Olson won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs and was also a member of the first place 3,200 relay. Faith Heil won the 800 and ran on winning 1,600 and 3,200 relay squads.

Emily Hatzenbuhler of Mobridge-Pollock won the discus.

Herreid-Selby Area girls won the 400-meter relay.
