Watertown grabs doubleheader sweep over Groton

WATERTOWN - Watertown swept Groton in American Legion baseball action Tuesday night in very different fashion. Watertown won the opener 6-5 in eight innings before rolling to a 10-0 win in three innings in the nightcap. The first game was unique in that the two teams matched each other run-for-run throughout the contest. Groton scored once in the third on a Bradin Althoff RBI double, and Watertown matched it in the bottom half of the frame. Groton added another run in the fourth on Dillon Abeln's run-scoring single, but Watertown answered back. The visitors plated two more runs in the fifth on a passed ball and Tate Larson's sacrifice fly, only to have Watertown score a pair in the bottom half. Groton added one more run in the sixth on a wild pitch and Watertown matched that run as well. Groton nearly scored in the top of the eighth when Brevin Fliehs tripled with one out, but he was stranded on third base. Watertown then grabbed the walk off victory on Treyton Himmerich's
