Alexandria nips Redfield for third place at Marshall tourney

MARSHALL, MINN. – Alexandria scored three runs in top of the seventh inning to slip past Redfield 5-2 in the third place game at the Marshall Legion Wood Bat Tournament on Sunday.

The game was scoreless after the first two innings before Alexandria put up the first run in the top of the third inning. Redfield knotted the score in the fifth inning when Kevin Weller scored on an RBI single by Camden Osborn.

In the sixth inning, Alexandria scored one run to take a 2-1 lead before Redfield once again tied up the game in the bottom half of the inning. Nolan Gall scored on a fielder’s choice, tying the game at two heading into the final inning.

Alexandria then plated three runs to take control. A pair of runs came in on Redfield errors and Alexandria used a sacrifice bunt to push another run across.

Camden Osborn led Redfield with three hits and drove in one run. Elliott Komraus had two hits.

Redfield will return home to host Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern on Tuesday.
