Junior Tour has tight finishes at Lee Park; Braun wins Sanford event

There was little margin for error in many of the divisions as the SDGA Junior Tour wrapped up its Aberdeen swing with a stop at Lee Park Golf Course on Tuesday.

The tour also had a round at Moccasin Creek Country Club on Monday.

Andrew Gerlach of Aberdeen edged Brevin Fliehs of Groton by a single stroke in the boys’ 16-18 division.

Meanwhile, Gavin Colson of Onida finished one stroke better than Aberdeen’s Finn Anderson in the boys’ 14-16 division. Harrison Beyers of Roscoe was two strokes back.

Kyley Wirebaugh of Aberdeen and Paydyn Peterson of Sioux Falls tied for first in the girls’ 16-18 division. Both golfers finished with a round of 80.

The Junior Tour will continue through July.

Also, Aberdeen’s Olivia Braun won the girls’ senior division at the SDGA Sanford meet at Elkhorn Ridge Golf Course in Spearfish. Braun shot a round of 75 to win by five strokes.
