Groeblinghoff strikes out dozen in Groton victory

GROTON – Ryan Groeblinghoff racked up 12 strikeouts and Groton erased an early deficit on the way to a 5-1 win over Clark-Willow Lake during American Legion baseball action Wednesday night.

Groeblinghoff allowed one run in the top of the first when Lucas Kannegieter had an RBI double, then kept Clark-Willow Lake off the board the rest of the way. Tate Larson came on in relief to record the final out in the seventh.

Groton’s offense put up three runs in the first inning and two more in the second. Larson drove in a pair with a double, and Logan Ringgenberg added a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first. Bradin Althoff produced a two-run double in the second frame.

Six different hitters all had one hit apiece for Groton, which improved to 11-5 on the season.
