REDFIELD – Redfield used a late surge to defeat Groton and avenge its only setback of the season Thursday night. Redfield rallied from a 4-3 deficit with five unanswered runs in an 8-4 American Legion baseball win.

Redfield, 6-1 on the season, broke a 4-4 tie with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. After taking the lead on a passed ball, Redfield received a two-run single from Keaton Rohlfs and an RBI hit from Nolan Gall.

The contest was a back-and-forth battle with Redfield jumping in front with two runs in the first inning, one plated on a ground out and another on a wild pitch.

Groton answered back in the top of the second with a pair of runs, one coming in on error and another on a run-scoring single by Braxton Imrie.

Redfield regained the lead in the bottom half of the second on Owen Osborn’s RBI single, before Groton jumped back in front with two runs in the top of the fifth on RBI hits from Bradin Althoff and Logan Ringgenberg.

Redfield tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on Seth Siebrecht’s run-scoring single to set the stage for the pivotal sixth inning.

Camden Osborn lead Redfield with three hits, while Peyton Osborn, Gall, and Siebrecht each had two. Rohlfs drove in a pair.

Peyton Osborn struck out seven batters in five innings for Redfield. Althoff struck out five batters in 4 2/3 innings for Groton.
