Redfield finishes second at Webster tourney

WEBSTER – Redfield was unable to generate enough offense to overcome LaMoure, N.D., in the championship game of the Webster Tournament in American Legion baseball action Sunday afternoon, dropping a 3-0 decision in the title contest.

Redfield managed just four hits in the game, including a double from Camden Osborn.

Nolan Gall was strong on the mound for Redfield allowing just five hits and striking out six batters, but LaMoure was able to plate a pair of runs in the third frame and added another run in the fourth. The North Dakota squad has handed Redfield two of its three losses on the season.

Redfield overcame a 4-3 deficit to collect a 7-5 win over Big Stone City earlier in the day.

Redfield scored three times in the fifth and then added an insurance run in the sixth. Camden Osborn tripled to start the fifth and came in on an error. Peyton Osborn followed with a run-scoring double, and before Seth Siebrecht added a sacrifice fly. doubled in the sixth and came in on a single by Peyton Osborn.

Big Stone City scored once in the seventh and had the tying runs on second and third base before grounding out to end the game.

Keaton Rohlfs went six innings, walking just one and striking out six batters. Eli Morrissette came on in relief in the seventh.

Redfield had jumped in front to start the contest when Elliott Komraus scored on a sac bunt from Morrissette. After Big Stone City scored twice in the top of the third, Redfield responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half as Gall doubled, moved up on error and scored on a wild pitch and Siebrecht had his first sac fly of the game.

Big Stone City then added two more runs to set the stage for Redfield’s comeback.

Gall finished with three hits to lead Redfield, while Peyton Osborn added two hits and two RBI.
